Dissertation grant
The Dissertation Research Grant program is funded by the Graduate School and overseen by a subcommittee of the Graduate Council. The AERA Dissertation Grant Application includes the following components:. (no page limit)
6. Funding will be linked to the approval of the progress report and final report. Allowed expenses include but are not limited to research-related expenses associated with: travel to special library or museum collections; access to libraries, databases, or archives; hiring consultants; duplication, transcription, or translation of research materials; payments to subjects or undergraduate assistants; surveys; field work; and the purchase of software or specialized equipment (which will remain the property of the University). The Foundation’s goal with every proposal is to arrive at, and to communicate, decisions in a timely manner so that prospective grantees know where they stand.
Dissertation Fieldwork Grants are awarded to aid doctoral or thesis research. If international data sets are used, the study must include U. Applicants should read carefully the entire Call for Proposals prior to starting the online submission process. Many APA state associations and APA divisions support dissertation research funding. Grantees will present their research at a poster session during the AERA Annual Meeting and will participate in a one-day capstone workshop. ArrayWith support from the National Science
Foundation .
The proposal narrative should be no more than four pages in length, single-spaced, in 12 point type with 1″ margins. There is no time limit on the duration of the grant, and funding may be requested to cover distinct research phases (for example, two summers) if this is part of the research design. (2 pages maximum)
Letter(s) of Recommendation
Enter the name and institutional affiliation of the applicant’s faculty advisor(s) who will write letters of recommendation. The conceptual model(s) that outline the framework or design of the study.

Is the applicant qualified to carry out the proposed study. ) Students seeking training in statistics or methodology should first consult the offerings of the relevant departments and of the Institute for Social Science Research.
When you apply for dissertation funding, read the directions for putting together a proposal several times before you start, says L. Funding will be linked to the approval of the progress report and final report. Dissertation Grantees may not accept concurrent grant or fellowship awards from another agency, foundation, institution or the like for the same dissertation project that is funded by the AERA Grants Program. Evaluation criteria will include the importance of the proposed policy issue, the strength of the methodological model and proposed statistical analysis of the study, and relevant experience and research record of the applicant. The AERA Dissertation Grant Application includes the following components:.
Proposals must be submitted electronically. Applicants should choose research topics that can be supported by the samples and variables contained in the proposed NCES or NSF data set(s). Candidates are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence; quality and originality of project design; and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions, or fields of research. The article must be of the quality and in the format for submission to a journal for publication.
Proposals are judged on the basis of their scientific merit, including the theoretical importance of the research question and the appropriateness of the proposed data and methodology to be used in addressing the question. All uploaded documents must be submitted as. You may complete your application in one sitting, or you may save your work and return to it later. The Dissertation Grant proposal must include the following 7 components in one PDF document. Approximately two pages should be devoted to the problem statement/policy issue, theoretical framework, review of current literature, and research questions.
Note that institutions may not charge overhead on AERA Dissertation Grants. Federal agency (such as Labor, Census, NIH, etc. It may be a simple 2-column format or a more complex spreadsheet. Permanent residents enrolled in a doctoral program.
Note that applicants are responsible for ensuring their letters of recommendation are received by the deadline. If the applicant is from a discipline other than education, a second letter of support from a faculty advisor who has an education research background is also required. Applicants should choose research topics that can be supported by the samples and variables contained in the proposed NCES or NSF data set(s). The data set(s) of interest must be available for analysis at the time of application (public- or restricted-use files are permissible). For most students, it might seem like a long shot, but your dissertation research might be a good fit to the research interests of an institute of the National Institutes of Health, which offers two grant programs for students.
Net or in hard copy but must be received by the deadline. (2 pages maximum)
4. Students who require advanced language training should first consult the offerings of the relevant departments and the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. Ditre’s and Smith’s abilities to secure dissertation funding will pay off by showing that they know how to bring in outside dollars, an attractive quality in these tough financial times. Contribution to the field
Briefly describe the potential contributions this research will make to the field of education (200 words maximum). Letters may be sent electronically to the AERA Grants Program Manager at grantsprogram@aera.
The deadlines for this year are Tuesday, 20th October 2015 for the fall competition and Tuesday, 1st March 2016 for the spring competition (both six weeks from the first day of classes)

It was warm, a little sunny, and I’d spent the whole day running around like a crazy (kids’ activities and interviews at work) including an afternoon at the pool. Last night I felt so great after my run; I would even call it a runner’s high. Factors leading into the run weren’t great.

These topics can easily be used as an impetus for more ideas for your dissertation topics. No article is going to give you tips for selecting topics, but I know how hard it is to select a topic for your leadership dissertation. Therefore, here are some of the topics you can use for your leadership dissertation.
How these obstacles are handled can greatly affect the effectiveness of teaching at all levels. Of course, if there are factors that help you gain rapport with students, there are also factors that can prevent or at least hinder you from gaining full leadership. Intriguing educational leadership dissertation topics in this field include:.
